Draws for Peterborough Football Association competitions held in public

THE Peterborough Football Association (PFA) conducted the draws for it's Saturday cup competitions in public for the first time last night.

THE Peterborough Football Association (PFA) conducted the draws for it's Saturday cup competitions in public for the first time last night. The draws for the PFA Minor Cup, PFA Junior Cup, PFA Challenge Cup and flagship PFA Senior Cup were all made at the association's Chestnut Avenue base.

Only three clubs attended the draw but PFA secretary Paul Redgate insists he will continue with the policy of drawing competitions outside the committee room.

He said: "We are keen to raise the profile of, and the interest in, our cup competitions and feel doing the draw in front of the clubs is a great way to start.

"In the future we will hope to publicise the dates of the draws slightly better and hopefully more clubs will be represented."

The most eye-catching Senior Cup tie sees last season's beaten finalists Parson Drove – who went down to Perkins at London Road – travel to a Deeping Sports side bossed by former Perkins chief Alex Brown and featuring several players from that defunct club.

Evening Telegraph reporter Mark Plummer and PFA president Jack Hindle made the draws.
