DEEPING athlete Julie Hollman admits the Olympic heptathlon was probably the last event of her career.The 31 year-old has been troubled by a knee injury and had always intended this to be her final heptathlon, but had considered competing in the long jump next year.
But after finishing 32nd with 5729 points she admits she is unlikely to carry on.
Time and money spent travelling to see her coach in London on a regular basis, in addition to her injury, means she is now likely to quit competing.
She said: "However much I don't want this to have been my last heptathlon, it is the end of my heptathlon career.
"Being in that stadium made me realise just how much I love what I do.
"I need to think about whether to carry on training and do long jump or whether to get into my coaching and put my knowledge and experience back into the sport.
"But unless anyone wants to lend me 5,000 to carry on then it is the end!
"I am a little disappointed with my score but I enjoyed the experience so much.
"It was my running speed that let me down and that was down to missing a big chunk of training in June and July.
"It probably didn't help that it was my fifth heptathlon but I am an Olympian and no one can take that away from me."
Hollman ran 13.18 in the sprint hurdles, cleared 1.83m in the high jump, reached 12.45m in the shot, and ran 25.41 in the 200m on day one on Friday.
She then leapt 6.13m in the long jump, threw the javelin 39.08m and ran 2.22.54 in the 800m.
