Deeping boss made to sweat against Glinton

Under 14

Under 14DEEPING made sure their manager Nigel Reeve had to endure a tense afternoon in their derby game against Division One rivals Glinton.

Leading by a single goal thanks to Matt Burdock's first-half effort, the home side then failed to add to their lead despite creating a host of chances in the second half.

Fortunately for Reeve's nerves Matt Sparrow conjured up a late second for second-placed Deeping.

Reeve said: "They made it very hard for us in the way they defended deep and I was pretty nervous for most of the second half. It was quite a relief when Matt got the second."

IN Division Two Whittlesey Green twice came from behind to beat Woodston 4-3.

Dean Giglio hit a hat-trick for Woodston, but Mike Hope's side pulled it off thanks to goals by Carl Broughton (2), Charlie Howarth and Daylon Deshield.

Whittlesey are now in second place behind Estover Park, but Hope's plans to maintain Whittlesey's challenge are not being helped by having players poached.

He said: "I can't criticise the lads too much as they have really pulled together since we lost Rafa Duarte and Adam Goodman to Posh. They were key players for us and I am not happy about losing them but what can you do?

"We have just had to pull together and battle hard so we can maintain a title challenge this season."
