The Deeping ace, ranked two in the world, crashed out 7-5 at the hands of young Welshman Dean Reynolds in the second round.

Wolfie was by no means at his best but could well have gone through to the quarter-finals had he hit his doubles.

It was 3-3 at the break and Adams should have gone 5-3 ahead. But instead he missed his doubles and it was the 22 year-old from Cardiff who opened up a two-leg lead.

Wolfie did pull it back to 5-5 but Reynolds finished strongly to go through to the last eight.

Adams said: “It’s just one of those things - that’s the way it goes in darts. he hit his doubles and I didn’t.

“But the main thing is I had fun out there. I just love playing darts these days and enjoy the crowds. I wish Dean all the best and believe he can go all the way.”
