Wood’s a winner on the Helpston circuit

Steve Wood took the honours in Peterborough Cycling Club’s latest Summer League 10 race at Helpston.

He produced his second best time ever on this circuit charging round to win in a time of 22:49 with James Gelsthorpe 21 seconds adrift and Dave Sargent third in 23:12.

Both Gelsthorpe and Sargent set personal bests on the circuit.

The Qualitetch/Alston Country Homes sponsored riders of Jason Burrill, Steve Wood and James Broadley contested the Hatfield Puncheurs road race on Saturday with Burrill finishing 20th and Wood 35th. Broadley punctured on the last lap.

The next day Bourne-based Burrill finished 20th again but in the 80 mile GA Bennett race run off at over 25mph.
