RESULTS ROUND-UP: Senior team success, junior individual glory

Peterborough Cycling Club won the team prize at the Sherwood CC 10 mile time trial at Newark (July 9).

The team of Paul Pardoe (8th, 21.06), Kevin Hobbs (11th, 21.20) and Nick Hitchins (14th, 21.42), combined well to take top spot.

Brett Harwood, a second claim PCC member, won the event on 19.32.

Fenland Clarion Club just missed out on first prize in the National Clarion 3-up team time trial.

Simon Pitchford, Paul Lunn & Andrew Gilbert missed out on victory by just two seconds with 56.10 over the 25-mile course.

Steve Kaye, Paul Lilley and Jerry Norman were third (56.58) and Steve Clarke, Lindsay Clarke and Sean Beard seventh (62.33).

The local club also hosted the second of their summer youth grasstrack events. The winner for the under 8’s was the host club’s Harry Tozer who edged out Kettering rider Ruby Issac with Sleaford’s Isla Earth claiming third spot. There were individual race wins for Hereward CC. rider Nieve Bryant, St.Ives’ Cora Wood and Fenlands Harry Tozer.

For the under 10’s Kings Cliffe Flyer William Barraclough was the winner with two first places and a second from Oliver Tilley of the Naked Bikes race team, with Boston’s Jael Maw in third place. The under 12’s provided the only unbeaten rider of the night with Harry Tilley winning all three of his races, while Kettering’s Finley Issac just edged out Boston’s Connor Wilkinson for second place.

In the under 14s Cameron Neilson from the host club edged out Kings Cliffe’s Jensen Barraclough for a hard fought victory with two event wins.

In the Letchworth circuit races Fenland youngster Evander Wishart finished a highly creditable fourth in the under 8s.

Their own Harry Tozer won the under 8s event, while William Barraclough of King’s Cliffe Flyers won the under 10s. In the under 14s Fenland’s Cameron Neilson edged out King’s Cliffe’s Jensen Barraclough.

Fenland’s Evander Wishart finished fourth in a Letchworth U8 circuit race.
