It was Gelsthorpe’s fourth open win of the season as he scorched round the course in 1:49:22 to becoming the second club rider to beat the one-hour 50-minute barrier, his time falling just short of the club record set by Jason Burrill.

On the same day Malcolm Smith rode the Melton Olympic 25 and finished in third place

Still on the time trialling scene, the club’s King’s Lynn-based postman Matthew Senter rode the Team Jadan 10 near Hull and his time of 19-24 knocked eight seconds off the club record.

On the road-racing front, Martina Doreshenko scored the club’s first ever win in a ladies road race when she cleverly outsprinted a number of fast finishers in the Darley Dale series for ¾ category riders.
