Three Fenland Clarion youngsters raced on the Olympic velodrome boards at the Lee Valley track in an Eastern Region meeting at the weekend.

Georgia Bullard won both her Keirin heat and the final, although in the final she was relegated to fourth for a rule infringement, and she also picked up fourth place in the unknown distance event.

Mia Purnell rode consistently well throughout, picking up fourth in the scratch race and Kierin to go with a third in the elimination race. And that earned her second overall and first girl in her group for the Omnium.

Jerry Norman won both his scratch race and the devil and was third in the elimination race to win his group in the day’s Omnium event.

In the Central Cyclo-Cross League fixture at Harlington near Bedford, Purnell finished fourth in the Under 14 race, while Bert Papworth made a good debut in cyclo-cross with seventh place in the Under 10 race and Emma Emerton was 12th in the novices event.
