YAXLEY Under 18s are off and running in the Northants Senior Youth League.The young Cuckoos comfortably saw off fellow league newcomers Eynesbury Rovers 3-0 under the Leading Drove lights on Thursday in their first competitive outing of the season.

Nigel Clarke's side had already seen a goal disallowed by the time Lewis Stone opened the scoring after 17 minutes.

Impressive midfielder Luke Bonney doubled the lead nine minutes later and striker Craig Thain wrapped up the points with seven minutes remaining.

Clarke said: "Overall it was a very good performance and a great start for the team which is a mixture of last season's Under 18 team and four lads who have come up from the Under 16s."

Yaxley: Aaron Keir, Olly Medwynter, Tom Poulson, Lewis Stone, Chris King (Jake Pell), Owen Uglow, Luke Bonney, Craig Thain, Lennox Desborough, Kurtis Adams, Luke McDowell (Louis Medywnter). Unused sub: Matt Ivo.

n LEADING Drove is the venue for a charity match in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital tomorrow morning.

The Posh Legends featuring Ken Charlery are taking on local Sunday morning side Royal Mail – 11am kick-off, entry 2.
