In-form Twenty/20 side Ketton Lions powered into the final of the Stamford KO Shield with a 77 run win over Barnack at Pit Lane last night (June 27).

In the first of three Twenty/20 semi-finals they play this week, Ketton amassed 169-3 before skittling Barnack for just 92.

Ulrich van Duyker and Shakir Mahmood both cracked 56 for the winners before Dan Cotton, on a rare cricketing appearance, proved that class is indeed permanent by claiming 5-17 from five overs in Barnack’s reply.

Mahmood also took the prize scalp of Asim Butt, who scored 128 not out for Peterborough Town in a T20 game last week, for just 12. Shazad Amir (47) was a lone resistance fighter for Barnack.

Ketton now await the winners of tomorrow’s (June 29) second semi-final between Burghley Park and Ufford Park. The final is scheduled for Monday, July 11.

Ketton are back in action tomorrow when hosting Market Deeping in a semi-final of the Stamford Charity Cup. They also tackle Oakham at Pit Lane on Friday (July 1) in a Rutland T20 semi-final.

Also tomorrow the Jaidka Cup Final between Peterborough Town and Bourne takes place at Bretton Gate,

Barnack will hope for better luck in their Charity Cup semi-final at home to Bourne on Thursday (June 30).
