RUTLAND LEAGUE: Nassington win top-of-the-table clash

Nassington won the big Rutland League Division One game yesterday (August 21).

They beat title rivals Wisbech by four wickets and have gone top of the table as a result. They are now ?? points clear of Bourne.

Wisbech batted first and were bowled out for just 154. Gary Freear was their top scorer with 29 while Harrison Craig took 3-29.

Tom Norman led the Nassington response with 53 and Conor Craig made 39 as Nassington reached 158-6 in 37.5 overs.

Market Deeping were convincing winners over Stamford.

Simon Lem (59) and Liam Dave (42) steered Stamford to a respectable 194-6 but with Jamie Morgan (85no) and Patrick Harrington (88no) in superb form that never posed a problem for Deeping, who scorched to 198-2 in 30 overs.

Peterborough Town pipped Barnack by eight runs in a Bretton Gate thriller.

Marcus Howard led the way for Town with 79 and Alex Mitchell chipped in with 50 as the home side totalled 209-9 off their overs.

That proved to be just beyond reach for Barnack, who were all out for 201.

Their top scorer was Asim Butt with 48 while for Town there were good bowling displays from Jamie Smith (4-38), Connor Parnell (3-38) and Kieron Jones (3-44).

Ross Keymer (56) and Wahid Javed (67) were the bastmen in form as Ufford Park were bowled out for 195 by Uppingham.

Then Alex Emerson starred with the ball, taking 5-9, including a hat-trick, off five deadly overs. That helped dispose of Uppingham for 150, giving Ufford victory by 45 runs.
