Tom Norman ensured Nassington Knights maintained their unbeaten run in Twenty/20 cricket this summer with a stylish innings in the quarter-finals of the Stamford KO Shield at Stamford Town last night (June 8).

Opener Norman struck 71 from 50 balls (10 fours) to ease Nassington past Stamford’s 125-9 with five wickets and 22 balls to spare. Nassington have now reached the semi-finals of all three major Twenty/20 competitions in the area as they are also in the last four of the Jaidka Cup and the Stamford Charity Cup.

Nassington will play Peterborough-based King’s Keys in the semi-finals of the KO Shield after the city side scored a shock one-wicket win at Burghley Park last night.

It was a low-scoring, yet exciting, quarter-final with Usman Sadiq (47no) steering King’s Key’s past Burghley’s 115-8 from the first ball of the final over. Ben Slack (53) had batted well for Burghley, while Stuart Biggs (4-30) performed well with the ball for the losing side.

Ketton’s awesome Aussie Ben Bryant was in cracking form for Ketton as they ousted Bourne by nine wickets at the Abbey Lawns. Bryant bagged 5-25 as Bourne were dismissed for 129 before scoring an unbeaten 60 in Ketton’s reply. Shakaar Mahmood (52) was also in good nick for Ketton.

Ketton now travel to Market Deeping in the last four. Deeping beat Castor by nine wickets thanks to a whirlwind knock of 95 not out from 53 balls by South African import Emile Kriek. Ryan Evans has smashed 72 from just 44 balls to get Castor up to a decent 20-over score of 156-7, but Kriek and Chris Jones (56 from 64 balls) always had Deeping on course for victory.

Deeping are also in Twenty/20 action tomorrow (June 10) when they travel to Barnack for a Jaidka Cup semi-final. On the same night Ketton host Castor and Uppingham entertain King’s Keys in delayed quarter-final ties in the Stamford Charity Cup.
