Oundle powered their way into the semi-finals of the John Wilcox Trophy with a 239-run thrashing of Wisbech at Milton Road (June 28).
Oundle finished runners-up to Barnack in the Rutland League’s knock-out cup last season, but appear to be determined to go one better in 2015.
Jack Bolsover (72) and Marc Bell (50) top scored in Oundle’s huge 45-over score of 328-7 before Joe Charlton (5-20) helped rush Wisbech out for just 89.
Oundle will now meet Nassington in an all-Division One semi-fibal, although the latter had an almighty scare before beating Second Division outfit King’s Keys by two runs.
Confusion over the start time meant Nassington had just four players on site at the loss. Luckily they won it, but they laboured to a paltry total of 108 all out.
But Nassington’s track is not an easy one to bat on and King’s Keys were soon 11-4 before Ansar Hussain (54) led a fine recovery. Tom Norman (32) and Ryan Duffy (4-34) were Nassington’s star performers.
Stamford also struggled past lower-ranked opposition as they sneaked home at Isham by three wickets thanks a strong team effort.
Stamford will meet First Division Ufford Park in the last four. Ufford received a bye through the quarter-finals after scheduled opponents Peterborough Town pulled out because of a fixture clash.
The semi-finals will take place on Sunday, July 26.
