Former Peterborough Town all-rounder Rob Sayer made his List A cricket debut for Leicestershire against the touring New Zealand team yesterday (June 6).
Sayer returned figures of 0-46 from seven overs and struck an unbeaten 22 (one six, two fours) from 30 balls batting at number 10 as Leicestershire were hammered by 198 runs in a 50-over game at Grace Road.
Sayer (20) learnt his cricket at Upwood CC before moving to Peterborough Town for a couple of seasons. He starred for England in the last Under 19 World Cup.
Sayer is now a full-time member of the Leicestershire staff, but has barely played this season because of injury.
Younger brother David Sayer is now part of the Leicestershire Academy set-up, but is currently out of action with a back injury.
