Ketton Lions are set to provide the top run-scorer and the top wicket-taker in Cambs League Division One this season.

Professional Rob Woolley took his runs tally to 867 - 78 more than anyone else - with a knock of 76 in Ketton’s 39-run win over Saffron Walden seconds.

South African spinner Ulrich Van Duyker claimed two wickets in that match to make if 55 wickets for the season. He’s five clear of nearest rival Gary Freear of Wisbech with just a game against Nassington at Pit Lane this Saturday to come.

Ketton could finish third in their first season at this level if they get the better of Nassington.

Newborough’s ‘pound-a-run’ pro Robbie Trickett moved to 791 runs for the summer. He filled his boots - and his wallet - with 124 in a drawn game against bottom club Cambridge NCI last weekend.

Ben Peck claimed his first ton of the Hunts Division One season in Stamford’s final game as they beat Waresley seconds by 12 runs to pip neighbours Burghley Park to third place.

Wisbech batsman Danny Haynes hasn’t prospered in Cambs Division One as the club had hoped, but he’s enjoyed an excellent season in Rutland Division One.

Haynes cracked 85 in a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Bourne last weekend to move past 60o runs for the season.

Only Bourne skipper Pete Morgan (who is on 673 from just 10 innings) has also gone past 600 runs.

Leading wicket-taker in all seven divisions of the Rutland League is Ryan Evans of Castor who has 44. He took two more in defeat at the hands of King’s Keys for whom Mohammed Raheel struck 94.
