England Women, captained by former Ramsey CC player Charlotte Edwards, won the first match of their Ashes series today (July 21).

Edwards made just 15, but England successfully chased Australia’s 238-9 at Taunton with almost four of their 50 overs to spare. Edwards opened the batting and faced 22 balls striking three fours, but she also took a catch and executed a run out.

The Women’s Ashes is played on a points basis with three one-fay internationals, one Test match and three Twenty/20 matches.

The next one-day game is at Bristol on Thursday.
