That gave Cambs a first innings lead of 30 but they found it tough going second tome round - especially against the bowling of Ben France - and were shot out for 138. France took five for 65.

Dawborn made an early breakthrough for Cambs as the away side set about chasing 169 to win, clean bowling James Spelman for just three.

The dangerous Cambs bowler accounted for Jordan Taylor as well, having him caught by Jeyaratnam to break a half-century stand for the second wicket.

However, Sam Arthurton remained at the crease and saw Norfolk through to the close on 68-2, with half of those runs to his name.

Dawborn was again the pick of the home side’s bowlers, ending the second day with two for 21 from his eight overs in Norfolk’s reply.

The visitors will resume this morning needing just 69 runs to secure a win in the opening three-day game, with eight wickets in hand.
