Oundle blasted their way to another Northants Twenty/20 Finals Day with another stunning batting display against Rothwell in the quarter-finals at Milton Road last night (June 30).
Oundle powered their way to 247-4 from their 20 overs to set uo a crushing 134-run win over Rothwell. Zeeshan Manzoor led the way with 74 from 34 balls, while Cameron Wake wasn’t far behind with ab unbeaten 73 from just 40 balls.
Manzoor’s knock included seven sixes and three fours with Wake cracking 10 fours and one six. The pair added 149 in just 11 overs for the third wicket. Ben Groom (31) and Mark Hodgson (28) also made useful contributions.
Rothwell were never in with a chance and even professional Jimmy Chambers, a former Oundle player, could only make a relatively pedestrian 37 from 37 balls. Jack Bolsover bowled beautifully for Oundle to pick up 5-20 as Rothwell were eventually dismissed for 113.
Northants Premier Division side Oundle have taken advantage of some favourable draws to thrash their way to a fifth final appearance in six seasons. They have scored an astonishing 717 runs in three matches at almost 12 runs an over for 60 overs!
Oundle scored 296-4 against nine-man Division One side Weekley & Warkton and 174-7 against Division Four outfit Raunds before last night’s hammering of a Division Two team.
Oundle. who are unbeaten in Twenty/20 cricket this season, will now travel to the Northants County Ground for Finals Day later this month when the competition will be considerably tougher. Top sides Finedon and Rushton - the conquerors of holders Peterborough Town - have also qualified along with First Division East Haddon.
