Dan Robinson’s terrific start to the 2015 season continued with a Rutland Division One ton against Wisbech on Sunday (May 3).
Robinson cracked a century on the opening day of the Cambs Division One campaign and his unbeaten 101 at Harecroft Road dominated Nassington’s chase of 149 for victory.
The Wisbech innings had tapered away after a strong second-wicket partnership between Gary Freear and Sam Albutt who both made 38. Freear also bagged two Nassington wickets.
Nassington’s top bowlers were hot teenage prospect Harrison Craig and Ryan Duffy who collected three wickets apiece. Kiwi Duffy is Nassington’s new overseas import for the summer.
It was Nassington’s first Rutland win of the season, but enough to catapult them into third place behind unbeaten leaders Uppingham and Oundle Town. Uppingham thrashed Medbourne by 185 runs on Sunday, but Oundle’s scheduled game at champions Peterborough Town was one of many victims of a wet morning.
Stamford are also off the mark for the season after inflicting a fourth defeat in four matches on Eaton Socon.
Brett Bennett (3-5) and Tim Juggins (3-29) were the top Stamford bowlers as Eaton were dismissed for just 109. Chris Bore (33) top scored for Stamford as they eased to a seven-wicket win.
