Colchester boss Lambert bemoans his side's bad luck

COLCHESTER manager Paul Lambert was left to bemoan his side's poor fortune as a plucky effort gained no reward at London Road.

COLCHESTER manager Paul Lambert was left to bemoan his side's poor fortune as a plucky effort gained no reward at London Road. The visitors saw three defenders forced out of the match by injury between the 20th and 66th minutes.

Lambert also felt his side should have had a first-half penalty when Russell Martin appeared to divert a David Perkins shot with his hand.

Lambert said: "I'm told it was a certain penalty and if we had taken the lead it might have been a different story, but that's the way our luck is going at the moment."

Alan Swann's match report:

Posh 2, Colchester 1 - Strictly no sympathy for the 'Us'.

-------------------------

"I've never seen three defenders go off injured in the same game before, but despite having to constantly re-organise, the lads performed superbly.

"Peterborough are a very good side and Darren Ferguson has done an outstanding job, but we matched them and pushed them back for long periods.

"Our front two were a real handful and I'm very disappointed not to have got something from the game.

"If we keep playing like that we will start climbing the table."

Colchester slipped into the relegation zone as a result of the defeat and Yeovil's win over Tranmere.
