Charnock signs for Torquay

Posh lost another member of the 'transfer-listed 12' on Tuesday as central defender Kieran Charnock finally agreed a move to League Two side Torquay United.

Posh lost another member of the 'transfer-listed 12' on Tuesday as central defender Kieran Charnock finally agreed a move to League Two side Torquay United.Charnock originally turned the move to Plainmoor down for geographical reasons, prompting Posh director of football Barry Fry to describe him as 'nuts'.

But the 25 year-old has now signed a two-year contract and will join Posh striker Scott Rendell in Devon. Rendell is on a season-long loan at Torquay.

Charnock's transfer fee has not been disclosed by either club. The England non-league international moved to Posh from Northwich Victoria in the summer of 2007, but made just 16 appearances for the club and spent much of last season on loan at Accrington.

Of the players transfer-listed by Posh this summer, Fry has now arranged the departures of Charnock, Rendell, Rene Howe, Alfie Potter, Craig Braham-Barrett, Mark Tyler, Liam Hatch, Shane Blackett and Chris Westwood.

Kwesi Appiah is currently on trial at Dagenham & Redbridge. Danny Blanchett has also been on trial, at Stevenage, but played for Posh against Sunderland last night. Sergio Torres, who also faced the Black Cats, still has a chance of forcing his way back into Ferguson's plans.
