Peterborough bowler Nicky Brett made history at the weekend when he won the English Men's Indoor Champion of Champions Singles title for a record third time. The England international, who plays his indoor bowls out of the City of Ely club, claimed the title with a comfortable 21-7 victory over Tom Bishop (Atherley, Southampton) at Warner Leisure Hotels' Lakeside Resort on Hayling Island.
That was by far the easier of his four matches, having beaten fellow international Jamie Chestney (Gallow, Fakenham) 21-19 in the semi-finals; Andrew Rendall (Watchet, Somerset) by the same score in the quarter-finals and former junior international Chris Gale (Blackpool Newton Hall) 21-18 in the opening round.
