Biggest ever entry at city rowing club's two-day regatta

ROWING: Over 300 races will take place at Thorpe Meadows this weekend as Peterborough City Rowing Club hold their annual Summer Regatta.

ROWING: Over 300 races will take place at Thorpe Meadows this weekend as Peterborough City Rowing Club hold their annual Summer Regatta.Tomorrow racing will take place over the 1000m course from 8.45am until 7.30pm and then on Sunday over the 500m sprint course from 8.45am until 6.55pm, with races starting every four minutes each day.

Over 800 entries have been accepted - the highest ever by the club - from 82 clubs across the country, including London, Oxford, Cambridge, Nottingham, Manchester, Teesside and Bristol.

The host club has a total of 52 entries over the weekend, ranging from Novice to Elite and Junior to Veteran and they'll all be hoping to see a home crowd cheer them on to victory.

Several of Peterborough's outstanding youngsters will be in action, including Junior GB scullers James Fox, Sam Tuck and Tom Chung and national Junior 16 sculling champion Ed Rippon.

Peterborough crews are in royal blue and yellow kit.

Spectating is free, refreshments are available and all are welcome.
