Harriers youngsters smash the opposition at Luton

Nene Valley Harriers made light work of the opposition to win Sunday's Eastern Young Athletes League fixture at Luton by an impressive 100-point margin, writes Barry Warne.

Harriers dominated the middle distance races with maximum points coming from Megan Ellison and Josephine Fortune in the Under 17 A and B 1500m races, Amber Park and Ella Robinson in the Under 15 800m, Flo Brill and Elisha Foord in the Under 13 1500m, Joe Prince and Billy Fitzpatrick in the Under 15 800m, and Sam Oakley and Kai Chilvers in the Under 13 1500m.

Elsewhere on the track there were fine wins by Alicja Gawronski (Under 13 B 200m) and Ella Robinson (Under 15 B 300m) while Alex Pullen and Kelsi Ellis were untouchable in the Under 17 200m.

In the Under 15 field events Holly Yeeles threw furthest in the B shot and Jess Edwards in the hammer.

Lydia Church (hammer and discus), Priscilla Dadziea (shot) were Under 17 winners.

For the boys Freddie Fraser pulled off a superb Under 13 100m and long jump double and George Harrison won the discus with 21.27.

Under 15 sprinters James Marsh and Marco Gilmore cleaned up in the 100m and 200m and Jack Roffe also had a day to remember celebrating wins in the hammer, discus and shot. Callum Robertson was a comfortable winner in the B shot and Tomi Ogunyoye pulled of a fine high jump victory.

William Hughes flew to victory in the Under 17 200m with an eye-catching 22.4 clocking while Abraham Jones won the B 200m, Michel Fleming the high jump, Kai Harrison the shot and Charles Hughes the discus and javelin.

Nene Valley are third in the table out of 28 teams.
