Nene Valley Harriers newcomer Hannah Molyneaux produced a stunning performance when winning at the Bedford International Games on Sunday.

She soared to the top of the all-time UK Under 15 girls shot putt rankings with a superb personal best (PB) of 14.15m.

That was a massive improvement on her previous best of 13.21m set almost a year ago when winning the South West Schools Championships in Yeovil.

During the winter she moved to the Peterborough area to be nearer her coach Geoff Capes and it’s clearly paying dividends.

Sunday’s great effort opened what promises to be a fantastic summer for the 14 year-old, who won the English and Northern Counties indoor titles in February.

In 2013, Molyneaux was number one in the UK Under 13 shot and discus rankings and last year she topped the UK Under 15 shot rankings and won the English Schools title.

Peterborough Athletic Club’s rising star Megan Sims was also in action at the big meeting and finished second in the Under 17 300m hurdles in 45.85.
