Eye Community Runners are hoping for a big turnout for their annual Charity 5-mile road race, which takes place on Thursday night (July 2).
Local road races have shown a big increase in numbers this year, as witnessed last week when Eye Community Runners staged the second race in the Peterborough 5k Series. Numbers in the senior race were up on 2014 by almost 100 and in the junior race there were nearly 60 runners more taking part than last year.
The event was a roaring success for Eye Community Runners and their chairman Dave Richmond said: “It was great to see the efforts of all of the runners, both young and old. Hopefully many of those runners will take part in our annual Charity 5, which this year is in aid of a very worthy cause - the Guide Dogs for the Blind.”
The race will be from Lindisfarne Recreation Ground, Eye, with entry only being taken on the night from 6.30pm and the race starting at 7.30pm.
