ELTON Furze's Jody Greenall got his hands on a second trophy in a fortnight after winning the club's fourball knockout title.Having won personal glory by landing the Wheeler Salver at Gog Magog Golf Club two weeks ago, Greenall proved he can play with a partner too when he and John Delaney took the honours in the 36-hole betterball format.

Greenall and Delaney beat Wayne Glasper and Steve Roberts by one hole having played five rounds throughout the year to reach the final.

Greenall said: "I have got a bit of a sore back from carrying John all day! But seriously it is a good competition to win and we both had to play well to take it home so we are well pleased."

n TOFT seniors maintained their 100 per cent home record this season with a 6-2 win against Thorney Lakes.

Skipper Peter Spencer and Roy Lewis halved the first match home before Terry Lacey and Rod Campbell gave the home side the early lead with a comfortable 6 and 5 win.

But fears that 'Fortress Toft' could finally be breached grew when Bob Gore and Ray Bills could only manage a half before Mike Paulson and John Davenport went down by two holes.

Solid wins for the final four pairs however secured what ended up a comfortable win in their final home fixture of the season.

n AT Rutland County John Rudin is the new senior singles knockout champion after defeating Graham Cole in the final last weekend.

n THE Peterborough Milton Northants Handicap League team have a big game this weekend.
