The recent Charity match on Decoy Lakes proved to be a resounding success with more than 200 raised. The match was fished on Oak and Cedar Pools and thanks go to Diane and Peter Band for letting the anglers fish an evening match without pegging fees. Top rod on Cedar was Martin Freeman with 116lb 14oz of carp taken up in the water on pellet. Second on this lake was Dave Rowell with 87lb 12oz.
On Oak it was much closer with Martin Howard coming out on top with 90lb 6oz followed by Mick Mitchell on a level 87lb.
In Sunday's JVAC event on Cedar, Dale Stones made the right choice of bait. While most others fished pellet or corn Stones fished good old fashioned red maggot, and lots of them, to finish with 60lb 13oz. Lee Kendal came second just behind on 60lb 3oz followed by Mick King with 53lb 7oz.
Last season Aquaflow AC took the trophy home to Northampton in the annual Webb's AC v Aquaflow, but this year it was a clean sweep for our local lads at Pidley.
Not only did they take the team honours with 267lb 7oz to 174lb 2oz but also had the added pleasure of seeing Paul Rayner take the top spot individually with a fine 71lb 14oz. Mick McMillan came second on 54lb 2oz followed by Terry Mott on 49lb 5oz.
