Whincup is a caster master

In the Sunday Decoy Open on the Beastie Pool it was local star John Whincup taking the honours from peg eight.

Caster is the ‘in’ bait at the fishery right now and it was caster that did the trick for Whincup as he caught on a short pole line up in the water to finish with a fine 194lb 7oz.

Pushing him all the way was Josh Pace, who fished similar tactics but finished just short on 192lb 2oz. Third was Jimmy Brooks on 187lb 5oz.

JVAC were on the Cedar Pool at Decoy which saw Andy Gausden take full advantage of a good draw on peg 17.

He fished the margins with dead reds fed along with a good helping of micro pellet to finish with 170lb 14oz.

Roy Whincup did well from peg one netting 144lb to finish second, just ahead of Steve Dorks on 132lb 6oz.

OVER 55s

The Friday Over 55s match was fished on Horseshoe and Lou’s at Decoy.

Leading the way on Horseshoe was Steve Dorks from peg 13 with 136lb followed by Dave Rowell with 128lb 15oz.

On Lou’s Danny Carlton won from hot peg six with 115lb 9oz. Second was Stan Dow with 107lb.
