ROUND-UP: Confusion turns into celebration for Keith

A moment of confusion lead to a moment of celebration for Keith Rounding, winner of the Stokes No 2 at Raveley, in the latest Yaxley, Farcet, Holme and DAC match

Rounding (right) had left his normal reel at home, but found a 60 year-old centrepin in the bottom of his tackle box, and,coupled with his waggler rod, fished a rig about 5 metres out with perfection.

His 5lb 13oz net of roach, skimmers and bleak, caught on red maggot, was more than enough to take first place.

Kev Lee won the Fenland Rods match at Rookery Waters with 10lb 15ozs, mainly with fish caught close in on luncheon meat.

Matt Lutkin came second with 71lb followed by Mac Campbell with 67lb 5oz. A special mention also for Wendy Bedford who made the frame with 63lb 12oz.

KING OF THE FENS

Pete Wills won the individual battle in round two of the King of the Fens match on North Level Drain.

He caught 16lb 8ozs and his catch included a tench, one large perch and a net of roach.

Jon Taylor (16lb 3oz) and Kev Hunt (14lb 6ozs) were second and third.

Sensas Mark One Black are two points clear at the top of the team table at the half-way stage.

Leading the way in the JVAC match on the Yew Pool. was Lee Kendal. He caught close in with worm and caster for 146lb 4oz.

Chris Baldwin was second with 130lb 3oz from peg 14 to take the runner-up spot. In third place with 125lb 8oz was Dave Corcoran who fished worm and caster close in from peg 22.

Paul Faulkner won the Cock Inn match on the Horseshoe Lake with 87lb 10oz, finishing ahead of Chris Shortland (77lb) and Gary Sell (63lb 4oz).

Tom Edwards won the £1k qualifier at Rookery Waters with 141lb 10z. Tom caught steadily all day, mainly on meat over meat and hemp over in 12 inches of water. He caught 72 carp.

Runner-up was Graham Welton with Tony Evans third.

In the Decoy Over 55s match fished on the Willows, Bob Butcher ran out a clear winner putting 145lb 12oz to the scales from peg 1.

Second place went to Sean Best with 107lb 15oz.He caught on a small feeder from peg 25.

Making up the frame on the day was Jay Richardson with 107lb 3oz, all caught on soft pellet close in.

CONSERVATIVE CLUB

After a disappointing awayday last week in Lincolnshire last week, the Conservative Club were glad to be closer to home.

Peter Marshall took the honours at North View Fishery at Gedney Hill with 76lb 3oz.

He caught all of his fish on a small Method feeder fished to the island with pellet. In second place was John Newman, who caught close in on soft pellet for 60lb 11oz.

Third place went to John Parnell who put 59lb 6oz to the scales, up in

the water on caster.
