Kevin Peacock and Rob Wright are the two latest anglers to qualify for the big £1,000 Open at Rookery Waters.
Venue regular Peacock topped the field in the Thursday qualifier on the Magpie Lake with an impressive 167lb 8oz. Fishing paste tactics down the edge he managed to catch some of the bigger carp from peg 34.
Runner-up from peg eight was one of the area’s top young anglers Tom Edwards. He also fished paste out on a short pole line and also caught shallow down the edge for a mixed bag of carp, barbel and chub weighing 125lb.
In third place was Matt Arnold on 105lb 12oz.
Wright will join Peacock in the two-day August final after winning Saturday’s qualifier on the Jay Lake.
Drawing peg eight and fishing luncheon meat over meat on a long pole line, he caught a mixed bag to finish with 101lb 4oz.
Second was Whittlesey rod Simon Godfrey with 96lb 3oz and third RAF man Ben Jackson with 64lb 2oz.
Ramsey & District Angling Society have been attracting good fields to their matches of late and with their latest match fished on Magpie Pool at Rookery Waters it was no surprise to see yet another large contingent lining the banks.
Top rod was March ace Rob Wright. He drew peg 33 and after a slow start he gradually saw sport pick up. He took a few fish out on the long pole, and then picked some more off the top with pellet before settling into his stride fishing the margins with maggot to finish with 124lb 8oz.
The in-form John Price came second. He was on peg 26 and caught close in with luncheon meat for 83lb 12oz.
Ashley Prestige was third weighing a level 77lb followed by Paul Kilby on 72lb 12oz.
