Plenty of bream about on Gunwade

The Two-Day Festival on the Gunwade Lake at Ferry Meadows attracted a very strong line-up indeed.

Unfortunately few locals managed to get a ticket for this sell-out event.

Despite the weather once again playing its part, there were bream to be had from most areas and with the pegs and sections being switched round on day two so that anglers had a fair chance of a decent draw, the result was always going to be close.

Top rod after the weights were sorted out was Michael Buchwalder from Milton Keynes, who weighed in a two-day total of 87lb 4oz.

Just behind was Steve Ringer on 84lb 8oz, followed by Adam Wakelin with 67lb 4oz.

The match was a great success thanks to some very handsome sponsorship and a big pools pot.

Let’s just hope it’s the first of many bigger events to come to these in-form lakes.
