He drew one of the fancied middle-of-the-lake pegs and took full advantage putting 84lb 5oz to the scales. He fished sweetcorn in the margins netting carp and barbel.

Second with 61lb 4oz was Dick Warrener and third John Garner (59lb).

Sunday saw the Hotpoint match fished on the Elm Pool at Decoy Lakes.

Kevin Schneider led the way with 122lb 3oz. He fished the pole and feeder with meat his best bait.

Second was Richard Knight with 88lb and third Chris Hill with 68lb 14oz.

DECOY OPENS

In the Decoy Lakes Open on the Willows it was Wayne Shepherd out in front with a very impressive 138lb 4oz from peg seven fishing pellet and corn close in.

Runner-up with 129lb 3oz was Danny Carlton followed by Shaun Coaten with 121lb 8oz.

The Sunday Open was fished on the Beastie Pool with Tom Cole topping the list from peg 22 with 119lb 6oz. He fished a small Method feeder and also the long pole with pellet.

Second was Jimmy Brooks (117lb 8oz) and third Jay Richardson (96lb 14oz).
