In the Barry Mason Winter Series fished on the Beastie Pool at Decoy the hot pegs were again in the 20s.

Leading the way was Whittlesey rod Simon Godfrey. He opted for a straight lead approach fished halfway over to the island and most of his fish fell to red maggot with a few better samples coming to a hair -rigged pellet for 77lb 11oz off peg 24.

Runner-up Steve Freeman pushed him all the way on the next peg with 69lb 14oz followed by John Whincup with 56lb 3oz.

COCK INN

The Cock Inn match on Four Islands Lake at Decoy on Sunday saw Steve Smith finish top with 44lb of carp, tench, roach and barbel from peg eight.

Runner-up from peg five was Paul Faulkner with 30lb 8oz followed by Pete Sanderson on 19lb 4oz.

STANJAY TACKLE

The Old Nene at Benwick was in fine form for the Stanjay Tackle Series.

The winner was March angler Rob Wright, who fished the pole mid river with groundbait, squatt and pinkie from an unfancied peg out of the village.

He put a respectable 15lb 4oz to the scales. Second was Stan Binge with 13lb 8oz, third Graham Welton on 12lb 6oz and fourth Abbie Kendal with 10lb 15oz.

JVAC

Parsons knows best on Decoy’s Elm Pool

Fifteen hardy souls braced sub-zero temperatures in the latest JVAC match held over three of the strip lakes on the Decoy complex.

With a covering of ice on many swims, those anglers who enjoyed plenty of room triumphed and none more so than Dave Parsons.

Finding himself on end peg Elm 12, and with no-one else close by, he enjoyed the simplest of matches, using pole and pellet to amass 77lb 4oz of mainly F1s.

Second was Mike Mitchell, whose 71lb 10oz came to waggler, pole and Method feeder tactics from Oak 11.

Alan Warren finished third with 58lb 9oz.

WEBB’S AC

Webb’s AC fished the Horseshoe Pool at Float Fish Farm Fishery on Sunday and leading the way with a net of small carp and a couple of bigger samples weighing 14lb 11oz was club newcomer Peter Telszewski.

It was his first match win in this country and all his fish were taken on a small groundbait feeder.

Runner-up was Gordon Harmer on 14lb 8oz followed by Andrew Perry with 10lb 9oz.
