Anglers in this one were fishing for the Club Cup and as usual there was a very good turnout. However, a very sharp frost early on the morning ensured the fish would be difficult to catch and so it proved.

Top rod was James Garner on fancied peg 23. He caught most of his fish late on using cat meat close in and finished with 61lb 6oz.

Runner-up was John Smith fishing the opposite bank. He opted for a pole and maggot approach weighing in 54lb 12oz. Third place went to Kevin Lee on 50lb 7oz followed by Bill Foster on 49lb 4oz.

HADDON LODGE

Matchwinner at Haddon Lodge at the weekend was Martin Harwood. It was a return to form for the city rod who put 13lb 9oz of skimmers and carp to the scales. Second was Lucio Melillo Junior with 8lb 10oz, just ahead of his dad, Lucio Senior on a level 8lb.
