Angling: Not such good news in King of the Fens League
THERE isn't such good news to report from the King of the Fens League this week. After a couple of cracking matches, the latest round on the Twenty Foot and Old Nene junction failed to live up to its billing and it was left to Darren Croft to take the top spot with a modest 10lb 7oz.
THERE isn't such good news to report from the King of the Fens League this week. After a couple of cracking matches, the latest round on the Twenty Foot and Old Nene junction failed to live up to its billing and it was left to Darren Croft to take the top spot with a modest 10lb 7oz.The March rod fished close to Sheppersons Bridge and took three bream on the tip with worm and caster cocktail.
It was tight on the team front with nothing to separate Maver Image VDE and Sensas Mark One Black both finishing on 20 points apiece.

Bream are still showing in numbers on the South Holland Drain. In the latest Holbeach club match there Ian Thrower came out on top with seven good fish taken on the tip with worm for 38lb 4oz.
Ken Clarke came second on 25lb 8oz and John Ivatt third with 23lb 12oz followed by Nigel Claridge with 14lb 4oz.
There are still tickets left for this weekend's Terry Mansbridge Memorial match on the South Holland Drain. They are 15 and you can get booked in by ringing Alan Palmer on 07785 510643. The match is a week before the big King of the Fens League fixture so there should be a good turnout.
It has been a very successful week for Ramsey AS match secretary Keith Rayment. He took first place in the popular Thursday evening match on the Narrows with three tench and a few skimmers for 7lb 3oz.
Sunday's match at Staffurths Bridge saw him drawing well again down on the bottom end of the match length close to the big lily pads. And he took full advantage of the situation bagging three bream, a tench, topped up with 12lb of skimmers to give him a fine 24lb 15oz net of fish. Pushing him hard was George Coles with 22lb 3 oz followed by Roger Gowler on 9lb 8oz.
