DEEPING Diamonds Under 11s ensured a fitting end to a fabulous season when getting their hands on a second piece of silverware.
Carol Austin’s aces followed up their Fenland League title triumph by seeing off Hungate 7-2 in the League Cup final at Wisbech Town’s Fenland Park ground.

Captain Amie Ford led by example with a sparkling four-goal performance and regular scorer
Yasmin Green weighed in with a hat-trick, but the mammoth scoreline didn’t tell the whole story.

Incredibly Deeping keeper Rebecca Warr claimed the player-of-the-match accolade for preserving her side’s advantage with some fine saves when the contest was delicately poised 3-2 in her side’s favour.

Deeping Diamonds: Rebecca Warr, Chloe Moscatiello, Jasmine Maude, Kiera McHattie, Amie Forde, Kerry Chawko, Yasmin Green, Alice Lavendar, Shelby Culff, Jessica Woosnam, Libby Field.

n PETERBOROUGH Diamonds Under 12s are the toast of Cambs League football.

The young city stars completed an honours double when adding the League Cup to their league title at the weekend.

Diamonds defeated St Ives 5-1 in the cup final at Milton Road in Cambridge to cap a cracking campaign with sibling scoring machines Emily and Lauren Johnson both bagging braces.

The talented lasses have preserved a 100 per-cent record throughout the season, smashed 98 goals and only conceded eight.

Emily Johnson fired the first final goal when breaking St Ives’ resistance after 15 minutes and that was way it stayed until the second period when Diamonds took control with their star siblings in fine form.

Jordon Sampson also found the net before St Ives hit a late consolation.

Diamonds manager Louise Pavey said: “I am really proud of the players for what they have achieved during an excellent season.”

Peterborough Diamonds squad: Georgia Lee-Hughes, Amy Lomas, Charlotte Banister, Lauren Johnson, Emily Johnson, Jordon Sampson, Ellie Hanman, Chloe Pavey, Nicole Hitchen.

n Diamonds are stepping up to 11-a-side football next season and are keen to strengthen their squad for the challenge.

Anyone interested must currently be in school years six or seven and should contact Phil Pavey on 01733 311474.
