PETERBOROUGH City Rowing Club collected three medals at their own junior regatta at Thorpe Meadows over the weekend.
James Marshall and Matthew Hart picked up a silver medal in the junior 13 double sculls, while Meghan Lawless won a bronze in the Junior 13 single sculls.

It was a slightly lower return than normal for City, but they do host one of the largest junior regattas in the country. Thirty nine schools and rowing clubs from places such as London, Worcester, Oxford, York and Bedford took part – the event is open to 13 and 14 year-olds.

City were more successful out of town as they recorded four wins on their annual camping trip to the Ironbridge Regatta.

The women's senior 2 coxed eight and the women's senior 3 coxed fours won their events over 1,000m and 500m with four rowers each collecting four wins apiece.

The eights crew was Hayley Marsters, Jo Canton, Claire Hartley, Nikki Williams, Tracy Radnall, Sarah Cook, Bridge Lloyd and Hannah Davies and cox Katie Wallace.

The coxed four crew was Hartley, Williams, Lloyd and Cook plus cox Wallace.

Graham Timms was a finalist in the men's senior single sculls. The club's men's section also picked up final places in the veterans novice C coxed eight, the novice coxed four, the veteran D coxed four and the veteran C coxless pair.

JAMES Fox and Adam Neill start their attempt to become the first Peterborough City rowers to win a title at the famous Henley Regatta tomorrow.

Fox and Neill are joined by rowers from Nottingham and Leicester to compete in the prestigious Fawley Challenge Cup, an event for Under 19 quad crews.

The local composite crew are the number one seeds for the event. They face a first round race against Wallingford or Staines tomorrow morning and would then have to win three more races to lift the Cup.

Fox and Neill finished second in the event last year alongside two rowers from Bedford.

Fox attends Jack Hunt School, while Neill is a King's School pupil.
