Triathlon: PACTRAC pair prove to be the kings of the castle at Belvoir

SEVEN members of PACTRAC competed in the Belvoir Triathlon at Belvoir Castle near Grantham.
Raced over the standard Olympic distance of 1500m swim, 25-mile bike and 6.25-mile run there was keen rivalry was between PACTRAC pair Graeme Hall and Jaap Flikweert who came 12th and 13th overall respectively.

Flikweert led his clubmate out of t
he lake swim by a minute and 10 seconds, with Hall closing the gap on the bike to start the run just two seconds behind.

Hall then pulled away on the run with both athletes winning their age groups.

Chris Jordan was second in his age group, Robin Brookes was fourth, and Mariska Niemeijer finished sixth in her first Olympic distance event in her first year in the sport.

n Wednesday's PACTRAC Mini-Series was cancalled as Oundle Pool was closed for 24 hours for cleaning.

Last week the event was switched to a duathlon after the pool was closed following an incident in the pool but next Wednesday's race, the penultimate race of the series, could see a clash between former European silver medallist Simon Hoppe and potential future Olympian Josh Daniels.

Course record-holder Pete Galpin, currently on his honeymoon, is expected to compete in the final race of the series.


PACTRAC will stage their eighth Junior Triathlon at Thrapston tomorrow (July 19). The event is open to children aged 8-16.
