The prospects of Deeping maintaining their 100 per record looked bleak after a dozen overs of their innings. Messingham had piled up a formidable 240-7 in their 50 overs before reducing Deeping to 12-3, but that was as good as it got for the home side.

Andrews joined evergreen run machine David Gillett and immediately launched a murderous counter attack. He smashed eight sixes and 11 fours in an undefeated innings of 142 – his first ton at this level.

With Gillett, who was 73 not out at the close, he added 218 as Deeping scorched to victory with almost 12 overs to spare.

Earlier, skipper Nick Cowley (3-45) had continued his excellent start to the summer.

Bourne are also unbeaten and they cruised to a comfortable six wicket success at Caistor, helped in no small way by the home bowlers.

Bourne's match-winning score of 184-4 was boosted by 42 wides, the second biggest contribution after Aussie Mark Fotheringham's unbeaten 55.

Opener Chris Bamber (34) and Richard Dunn (21no) also chipped in after three wickets from captain David Christmas and two from Ben Stroud helped restrict Caistor to 180-8.
