PETERBOROUGH City's father and son act chalked up another success with a 3-0 win against Bourne Town Orange in the first round of the League Cup.
Since the start of the season manager Nigel Simpson has been joined by son Luke at the helm and the e
ffect on the team's fortunes has been miraculous.
This result was the third win of the season for a team which last campaign finished second bottom with just seven points from their entire league fixture programme.
A goal in the first half from James Phillips followed by one each after the interval for Curtis Reeve and Ryan Ellwood saw City safely through to the second round draw.
Nigel said: "We had the lion's share of possession but we were made to work hard for our chances and we are pleased to have got this result.
"Since the start of the season the lads have been playing really well and I am sure we are going to have a much better time of it this season.
"As long as Luke and I can keep our arguments about who is the most qualified coach to a minimum I think we are going to be fine!"
WITTERING almost paid the price for switching off at the back against Parkway Eagles in the second half.
Leading 1-0 courtesy of an Alex Cobb goal, manager Dave McKenzie felt his defence took things too easy after the break and allowed Parkway back into a game he thought should already have been one.
Luckily for the Harriers Niall McKenzie and James Bezant kept their cool in the penalties which followed to send their team through.
McKenzie said: "I have told the boys that they need to apply themselves all the time in matches or next time we may not be so fortunate."
A double for Daniel Tooth in a 3-1 win against Rippingale eased Blackstones passage into the next round. After Arthur Franlkin had equalised for Stones, Tooth's brace saw Darren Lawson's side emerge victorious after a tight match at Ryhall School.
