Swales: Fans must not expect miracles from Vissing
PANTHERS team boss Trevor Swales has appealed for supporters not to expect miracles from potential trump card Claus Vissing.
The Dane has performed tremendously in the club's opening two meetings of the 2008 season despite his lack of experience.
The winter recruit from Premier League club Stoke slammed in a splendid 16 points in a challenge victory over Mildenhall and followed up with 9+1 in the hard-fought Craven Shield success against Ipswich on Easter Monday.
It is a rich vein of form he will be hoping to continue in the Craven Shield at Ipswich tonight, Lakeside tomorrow and then in the club's Elite League opener at Eastbourne on Saturday.
But Swales stressed: "It is important that we don't get carried away by Claus' good start.
"He has had two stonkingly good meetings but the boy is a reserve and will have bad ones as well.
"Just because he has been going great, we should not expect miracles from him."
Panthers need to win one of their two away Shield meetings to stand any chance of advancing to the final.
Swales added: "We have riders who go well at Ipswich and others that don't mind Lakeside, but in terms of toughness there is not a lot to choose between the two.
"We need to get a result away and the key factor is hitting the ground running. We can't afford to fall behind in either match and risk relying on a tactical ride."
Teams
Ipswich: 1 Robert Miskowiak (6.69), 2 Piotr Swiderski (5.19), 3 Chris Louis (7.28), 4 Steve Johnston (5.41), 5 Jarek Hampel (6.27), 6 Chris Schramm (3.00), 7 Tobi Kroner (4.89). Team manager: Pete Simmons.
Panthers: 1 Hans Andersen 9.91, 2 Sam Simota (4.44), 3 Kenneth Bjerre (7.90), 4 Morten Risager (4.95), 5 Danny King (5.69), 6 Henrik Moller (3.00), 7 Claus Vissing (3.00). Team manager: Trevor Swales.
SCB referee: Dan Holt.
Panthers will now stage their postponed Craven Shield clash against Lakeside at home next Thursday, April 3.
The Hammers were originally due here for a league clash next week but that will now be staged later in the season.
