IT proved to be a brief trip to Henley for Peterborough City Rowing Club's women's senior coxed four crew.
Claire Hartley, Nikki Williams, Bridge Lloyd and Sarah Cook with cox Kate Wallace did make it through to the last 16 but that was as far as they got after coming undone against Maidenhead Rowing Club.
Despite putting on a good show against their southern rivals, the city crew missed a quarter-final spot by two lengths while another local crew from Oundle School went out at the same stage in the junior double sculls.
Two of Peterborough City's youngsters will be trying to make it to next week's Henley Royal Regatta.
Sam Tuck and Ed Rippon take part in qualifying for the Fawley Challenge Cup quad sculls on Friday with the fastest nine competitors from 31 crews getting the chance to compete at the regatta.
Two City stars already qualified are James Fox for the Prince of Wales Challenge Cup quad fours and Tom Chung, who will compete for the Fawley Cup for Under 19s.
Meanwhile City's excellent junior section once again shone, picking up six wins at the Star Club Regatta in Bedford.
Over the 1000m upstream course the junior 15 coxed quad scull of Aaron Taylor, Daniel Boyle, Jake Lunn, Adam Fox and cox Serena Ward beat the home club by three and a half lengths.
Further success followed with James Marshall in the single sculls after a 'row over' in the final against St Paul's School before Meghan Lawless took the women's junior 14 single sculls title.
In the final of the junior 12 single sculls Matt Dodds took the honours while in the junior double sculls James Marshall and Matt Hart won their final tussle with fellow City scullers Harry Veal-Gray and Josh Codd.
And to round off an excellent display in Bedford, Daniel Boyle picked up his second success of the meeting by taking top spot in the junior 15 single sculls.
Oundle School also performed well at Bedford with a hatful of victories.
First up a crew containing Natasha Garood, Holly Martin, Emma Carr, Mary Whitlow and Hester Seymour took the honours in the AJ14 coxed quad while a crew of Alex Tonks, Lottie Winnett, Kristina Cowley, Catherine Davies and Helena Jackson repeated the feat against the Bedford High School quad in the B event.
And the success was not just for the girls.
In the junior 16 boys coxed fours Emily Keston (cox), Peter Dennison, Henry Sutton, Greg Wilkinson and David Fearnley beat Eton College before the senior girls double crew of Hannah Hoskins and Charlotte Birks rounded things off with an impresive win against Star Club.
