New skipper Craig Morgan will be bursting with pride when he leads Posh out for the first time against Liverpool.
The Welsh international was the surprise captaincy choice of manager Darren Ferguson when he decided to relieve midfielder Micah Hyde of the responsibility.
Morgan said: "It was a nice surprise to be given the captaincy. I was a captain for Wales when I played in the youth sides, but I was never given the job on a permanent basis.
"A good captain needs to perform every week. Everyone looks up to you so you need to be helping everyone and talking all the time.
"I felt like I was doing that last year. The gaffer said that I had matured as a player which is why I have been given the job.
"We are looking forward to the Liverpool game and we are all raring to go.
"We have had a difficult few weeks getting back into the swing of things, but we are just looking forward to starting the season."
Hyde is to be used sparingly on the pitch by Ferguson this season as the manager believes he would struggle to play three games in a week.
