11pm: As news reports spread across the web this evening, Peterborough United remained tight-lipped over reports suggesting they had parted company with manager Darren Ferguson.
The story broke this afternoon (Monday) as thesun.co.uk newspaper website ran the first story claiming Ferguson had been sacked.

But by early evening, director of football Barry Fry and chief exective officer Bob Symms both refused to comment when leaving Posh's London Road ground.

thesun.co.uk story later added that Posh are: "expected to make an official announcement once the terms of Ferguson's pay-off has been agreed."

The city club slumped to the bottom of the Championship table following a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday.

Ferguson has guided Posh to back-to-back promotions since his appointment in January 2007.

What do you think, has Ferguson been good for Posh?

I have to wonder though, how did The Sun run the story long before the teams local evening paper?????

It will be an absolute joke to sack Fergie, he has got Posh to where they are, who do they think they can get to get to know the players and staff in time to save them from the drop?? He should be allowed to see the season out!!

Back to Back promotions and this is what they do? Surely this will be even more unsettling for the players, we are doomed without DF now!

Blimey. I'm even more surprised by this than I was when I heard on Saturday that CMS was up front on his own!

The Sun had this before they had even come out of the meeting where he got sacked, so who has done that then????
