The city-based works' team are determined to make sure their final season a winning one.

They are being forced to vacate the Perkins Sports Field at the end of the summer.

Shahzad Amir was the star of yesterday's show with a beautifully struck 90 in a team total of 227.

Tas Ahmed (35) and skipper Usman Sadiq (33) also made handy contributions.

Buckminster lost early wickets and did well in the end to reach 175.

Irfan Sadiq and Kamran Hamayun each took three wickets for Perkins.

Oundle could be the team to beat at the top this season and they maintained an unbeaten start with a four-wicket win at Wisbech.

Michael Outar bagged four wickets including that of top scorer Dave Wood (42) as Wisbech reached 188.

And Outar also top scored with 34 as Oundle achieved victory on the back of a consistent batting effort.
