SPEEDWAY: Panthers have contacted more than 25 riders during a painstaking search for new talent.
That is the admission from team boss Trevor Swales who insists the club are now closing in on a signing.

Swales revealed it is ‘99.9 per cent certain’ Panthers will have a new rider in their ranks when they return to the track next Thursday for a bottom of the table showdown against Wolverhampton at the Showground.

He said: “We have been in touch with in excess of 25 riders and had no joy. But we are closing in on a rider we have wanted all along.”

Swales admitted veteran British rider Paul Thorp – currently out of the sport – had attracted attention from Panthers but the club have failed to contact him.

Teams have to re-declare their line-up with a new signing three days before a meeting so Panthers have until Monday to complete a capture.
