Nick Dempsey climbed up from ninth to seventh in the RS:X men's windsurfer category after enjoying his best result so far of the regatta with third place in race three.
The former Orton Longueville school pupil, who was the bronze medallist in Athens four years ago, trailed 27 seconds behind Israel's Shahar Zubari, who leads the standings after winning two of the first three races.
Hong Kong's Chan King Yin was the runner-up in race three and also remains second in the overall standings.
