POSH: Director of football Barry Fry has revealed the club's top talent scout – it's chairman and owner Darragh MacAnthony!
Fry was discussing the detail behind the arrival of so many lower league stars with The Evening Telegraph when he made the shock disclosure.

Fry revealed that MacAnthony recommended signing winger Michael Kightly as well as striker Aaron Mclean from Grays Athletic, but was over-ruled by manager at the time Keith Alexander. Kightly is now a star at Championship side Wolves.

Fry said: “Darragh knows a hell of a lot of players and he is forever recommending them to us. He knew all about Aaron Mclean when he was at Grays and he even suggested we should try and get Kightly, but Keith Alexander didn’t fancy him.

“We don’t employ scouts to find us talent because we have so many contacts in the lower divisions anyway. I will watch players for the manager, but the most tips we get are from the chairman.”
