FOOTBALL: Willie Gale bagged a brace as Deeping triumphed 2-0 at Ryhall in the Peterborough League Premier Division – a fourth successive win for the table toppers.
ICE HOCKEY: A hat-trick from Matt Beveridge and a Nathan Rempel double helped Pirates overcome Kingston 9-5 in a rough and tumble Benson & Hedges Cup tie at Planet Ice. Randy Smith (2), Lucas Miller and Chris Jamieson also scored.
FOOTBALL: Goals from player/assistant boss Gary Childs and Shaun Keeble were not enough to prevent Wisbech tumbling out of the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage after a 3-2 home defeat by Bedford.
SPEEDWAY: Part-time chef Phillipe Berge cooked up a treat with a dozen points as Panthers closed in on the Premier League title. They lost 49-41 at closest challengers Reading but took the all-important bonus point.
POSH: A Mick Gooding goal couldn't lift the gloom on a miserable afternoon as Posh were bashed 4-1 at home by Neil Warnock's Scarborough in Division Four.
ICE HOCKEY: Wayne Crawford made a stunning scoring debut as Pirates trimmed up Slough 8-5 in the Norwich Union Cup. The big Canadian cracked five goals and Todd Bidner added another couple for the city side.
SPEEDWAY: Two riders shouldered the scoring burden as Panthers put up a game showing in a 55-41 defeat at Berwick. Kevin Hawkins (17) and Jamie Habbin (15) mastered some hazardous conditions.
CRICKET: A fine knock of 60 from Phil Dicks helped Peterborough hold Northants Premier Division champions County Colts at Bretton Gate.
FOOTBALL: The Garner brothers fired Wisbech into the preliminary round of the FA Cup. Wayne's right wing cross was converted by sibling Craig as the Fenmen won 1-0 at Histon.
ATHLETICS: Peterborough Athletic Club lifted the Southern Women's League Division Three title. Karen Newbegin was the star of the show with a 100m, 75m hurdles and high jump hat-trick.
